There’s been a lot of confusion here about where Danny and I live and work. It’s is a bit complicated. I talk about us working at Lake Kissimmee State Park , Rolling Meadows Ranch and even at Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park. I also mention Catfish Creek ,the Creek. I mention living at the park and RMR .It’s all true. So here’s a bit of the story:
In  November 2006, I moved to Florida from Colorado. Danny and I moved out of the house his Dad had built when he was a child. He lived in Haines City all of his life. We bought a 5th Wheel and moved to Camp Mack Fishing Camp…..Camp Mack Road, Lake Wales. It’s right across from Lake Kissimmee State Park. Danny was working at Bok Tower Gardens at the time.

February 1, 2007, Danny got a job as a Park Ranger at Lake Kissimmee State Park (LKSP) I started volunteering right away although not full time.
On August 4, 2007, we moved the RV across the street to LKSP and lived in what is called Day Use Area. I was Campground and Day Use  Host….
Among many other things.  FULL TIME and then some..We lived there until December 2008.

We moved over to Rolling Meadows Ranch.  (3 miles from the Ranger Station) It was a SOD FARM till the state took it over 6 years before. The Sod people totally moved out January 4, 2009. We remained in the RV until the Cracker House was Gutted and remodeled. (Part of the kitchen was left as it was. ( I wanted the CABINETS.) We worked on the house for  almost 4 years. We moved into the Cracker House and out of the RV in September 2011. It was not totally finish. Not by a long shot. We also needed the RV to cook in, etc. for months.

Lake Kissimmee State Park manages Rolling Meadows Ranch.
LKSP manages Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park (CCPSP) or Catfish Creek.
LKSP also manages a place called Money Tree and  a few other tracks of land.
Lake Kissimmee State Park also leases pasture land. All the pastures seen from LKSP to RMR on both sides of the road belong to LKSP.
Lake Kissimmee State Park connects to Rolling Meadows Ranch.
Rolling Meadows Ranch connects to Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park
So LKSP has almost 20,000 areas to manage.
Rolling Meadows Ranch is the largest of the 3. It’s where we take our NIGHTLY DRIVES that I talk about. It’s more of our Evening Rides because we usually get home around Dark.

Catfish Creek runs through CCPSP and RMR. I’m usually speaking of RMR’S Section of it. SO HAVE I TOTALLY CONFUSED YOU?  It takes time to fully understand all we do.

My real name is Debra (Debbie Sue). Sarah is a nickname given to me in high school. My husband has always called me that so here in Florida It's all I am known by. I was born and raised in Illinois. My son and I moved to Colorado in 1982. I taught school for 17 years. Then I ran a homeschooling/preschool/daycare until 2006 when I moved to Florida after my son, Bobby died suddenly. He was almost 26. Danny and I live and work at a state park here. I miss the mountains and climate of Colorado. I miss snow and the four seasons. I miss Bobby.

    1. Maddy,
We have had so many awesome experiences with the animals here. We never ever feed them but they are always in the yard. Now they enjoy the food that the rabbit drops for them. The squirrels usually get that right away. I have a pet rabbit.
We have had momma deer bringing their babies by for a quick hello right after they are born.
Two years in a row we had a new deer born by our steps. One year the den (French Doors) and the other the front door. Most of them have the babies in the hammock around the house. Literally a few feet away.
We have a pair of Sandhill Cranes that have come by for 5 years now with their new babies. Usually 2. They usually are quiet here (because we don’t feed them) that when we do here them we come running. They will make sure I at least see the babies before they leave,
They actually introduce them to me. It is really unusual for them to do that. Once I have said hello and of course taken MAGA PHOTOS they leave quietly. It is amazing. No One believes it until I show them the photos.
I get to go home as soon as Danny picks me up this afternoon. I will be released around 2PM. Danny traded with another staff member so he could be here. We are short handed right now. I may have to wait for awhile for him but that will be ok.
      Hugs My friend.

      1. So long as you get home Sarah, is the most important thing. I live in the city but in the house next door they have 3 rabbits which come into our carpark area. They never go in the road. If they were mine I would worry a dog would get them.
Coincindence but I posted a video on my facebook of 2 deer being born recently – I think it was from the States somewhere….We do get them in the parks here and it is amazing when they come close, so quietly…

        1. I’ll look forward to seeing the video. I want to catch up on blogs this weekend.
We had several years of twins being born to 2 deer here. That was fun to watch. I need to get those pictures and videos out.
I have so much I am wanting to share. Way too much. LOL
I am surprise they let the rabbits out.
          Hugs

    1. Audrey, I feel great for it being morning. For the first time in years, I don’t feel sick. I usually wake up sick to my stomach. I even got some sleep last night. My ankle looks good.
Do you have any plans for the weekend? It doesn’t seem like it’s Labor Day to me. LOL.

    1. I would love it here, flat lands and all if the temperature wasn’t so miserable most of the year. Sadly, most of the property is flooded right now. We have had heavy rains for months.
I saved your blog to read later when I get caught up here. Thank you for dropping in… Have a wonderful weekend. Any plans for the holiday?
