The Key To Making Your Home a Haven

What makes a home a haven?

“Does it have to look like it popped out of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine with unbelievable decorating?

Is it a certain number of square feet, a separate bedroom for each child, or the neighborhood you live in?

No.   It is not the things we have or the things we do not have that make our homes a haven.

It’s YOU!

You are the key to making your home a haven.”

You are the key to making your home a haven

“Week 1 – CHALLENGE:

Go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home. I will be starting mine in the morning but you can start yours at dinner time or whenever is convenient for you.  I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home.

Each time the glimmer of the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace and patience within your home.

Let’s make our homes feel more like a warm hug than a cold shoulder this week!

Chime In:

Are you taking the challenge?  What is your home and season of life like right now and what sort of changes are you praying God brings to your home?”

Read the Rest On The Blog. It is well worth It. Love Sarah

  1. I lit a candle after part 1 and now my home smells like vanilla. Yum.

    1. I love vanilla. Right now, I am using an older candle but it is pumpkin spiced .
I am doing this by myself as I usually do….It certainly can’t hurt . It is a reminder to me of things I need to do more of.
My mood is not always the best when Danny is home.
Working on this distance I feel between Us.
Working at keeping my mouth shut a bit more. The candle is helping there.
I can’t explain it but is is helping me.

      1. I used to called those little gestures “Good Fer Me’s.” They’re the thoughtful things we can do for ourselves to stay in the moment and care for our souls.

        1. I like that. “Good Fer Me’s” It’s perfect.
I have had to change mine.I uses to take a hot bath with the candles etc. Now I can’t get out by myself and It is not relaxing to know you will need to ask for help. Danny is good about it.
So baths have been out for awhile now.
I like to drink a couple of chai lattes after Danny goes to bed. At least once it cools off.
D, have a wonderful weekend. And Thank you for just being here. HUGS

    1. Clara, Thank you. I am enjoying it. First off, It is so simple to do. It doesn’t take any extra time. Not really. I pray all the time any way.
Now I find myself really thinking about what I want to pray about.
      Have a great Friday.

      1. hope you are well dear! how are things? how are you feeling?

        1. Lynn, I am good. Sleeping for 19 hours sure did me a world of good. I can’t believe I slept that long.Only briefly waking up when Danny came to bed and then again when he got up. I loved my dreams of Bobby and family.
It left me more relaxed than I have been in years.
Still waiting for cooler weather. But at least it is cooler than a month ago. A good 8 degrees. Most of the time. Not as cool at night yet.
          All is good.
Looking forward to catching up with you this weekend.
          Love Sarah
