Family Times In Our Neck Of The Woods- December 2015

TATA! Finally posting about Danny’s and my awesome Christmas and what we have been doing.
Plus what we gave each other for Christmas.
ALL of which is MONUMENTAL considering the last UPTEEN Christmas’s Danny did not get me anything.
Danny is not a HOLIDAY person. Mr. Gloom and Doom.
It took us years to get a Christmas Tree.
Which is funny (In a way) since we have had a tree we have called our Christmas Tree since early days here on Rolling Meadows Ranch.

It is one of many pine trees we use to drive by on our ALMOST NIGHTLY CAN’T DO ANYMORE Nightly Drives.
Long story there. Park and WORK ISSUES.

The first few years Danny did buy a gift or 2. Necklaces and earrings.
Yes, I use to wear them all the time. So he does know how to celebrate.

We have always SPENT A QUIET Christmas EVE and I like it like that. (ALTHOUGH, I DEARLY MISS THE CHURCH SERVICES). Watching them ONLINE is NOT the same.

SAMSUNG

Selling The RV when we did meant We could have a special Christmas.
We’d had extra bills…that always seem to come that time of year….Truck. $400.00.
Doctor. (Always)
All of Danny’s  stuff is due on the first of the year. License Plates. His Pack Test Doctor’s Appointment, His CDL. All requiring MONEY. Extra GAS. No he doesn’t do it early. All in December. My birthday. Christmas. Then his birthday. Oh, Yes, NYE and Day. .
He doesn’t PLAN like I try to.
SO what did I do?
I bought some special treats.

We always have Oyster Stew Christmas Eve but not always with EXTRA EVERYTHING. We bought good steaks instead of the cheap “why did we buy these ?”steaks.
Ate a LOT of SHRIMP AND CRAB MEAT.
I bought me MORE than a bottle or 2 of wine.
Plenty of cheese and crackers.  Dips and reads. Made fondue.
Splurged.
Bought a ham for Christmas Day.
I bought Danny a few things he needed.
I MENTIONED THAT IT WOULD BE NICE IF HE GAVE ME SOMETHING.

We started talking about things we liked to do together.
He kept talking about His rockets and helicopters and other stuff he use to do.
I mentioned the HUGE TRAIN SET BOBBY AND I HAD.
We started talking more and more about WISHES AND WANTS.
THEN I GOT A Christmas Card from Dad.
AND A HUGE SHOCK.

A Check.
Not the usual $100.00 to $200 dollar check but one that made me first look at it again and again and AGAIN.
Danny had just walked in the with the mail.
I opened Dad’s while standing at the counter watching Danny take off his belt. Putting his wallet up.
I yelp. I am not sure what all I did.
I asked Danny to look at the check.
He did.
“WOW”.
“Now that is a check”. Not sure exactly what he said.
I do remember the wows from both of us.
I also remember saying “I guess we don’t have to worry about BILLS. Or the credit card bill for the doctor visits. ”
Later on , while still in shock, Danny said something about my asking my nephew  to ship some of the Train stuff here.. (Mike has the train sets of Bobby’s. One of the few things I still have of Bob’s.)
“That way we could run the trains together. ”
I had a better idea.
“Why don’t we start our own collection? ”

Now  YOU KNOW WHAT WE GAVE EACH OTHER FOR CHRISTMAS.

TRAIN SETS.

THE REST OF THE STORY COMING UP .

What a Huge Difference a year makes. We gave each other train gifts. All is well there. We just did it EARLY. In Danny’s Case Christmas NEVER ENTERED IN TO IT. Not really.
Yet, Christmas never made it to our house this year. Why? Best and only answer I can give is : Danny is Danny.

    1. I went from being able to post photos to not being able to again here. Same with other issues.
I will survive. The song is ringing through my head.

Oh girl, I LOVE that song!!! Consider it my mantra! LOL! It’ll sync back up eventually…it’s beat your head against the wall frustrating though! Sometimes the best thing to do is simply…walk away.
