A Christian Alternative to Elf on the Shelf

Faith Along The Way:

Christmas is filled with magic and wonder for children.  Before having kids of my own, I dreamed of an elaborate holiday and the memories we would make together.  Fast forward six years and two special needs kids later, and this busy mom longs for a simple Christmas season.

Imagine my delight when I stumbled on a new Christian family tradition; A Shepherd’s Treasure! This Christ-centered activity comes with a bendable, plush Shepherd, the book, Advent cards and a plush baby Jesus in a manger.  Then, throughout the season of Advent, the Shepherd encourages the children with Scripture reading, Christ-like character and random acts of kindness.

My real name is Debra (Debbie Sue). Sarah is a nickname given to me in high school. My husband has always called me that so here in Florida It's all I am known by. I was born and raised in Illinois. My son and I moved to Colorado in 1982. I taught school for 17 years. Then I ran a homeschooling/preschool/daycare until 2006 when I moved to Florida after my son, Bobby died suddenly. He was almost 26. Danny and I live and work at a state park here. I miss the mountains and climate of Colorado. I miss snow and the four seasons. I miss Bobby.

Please Comment. I don't care how long or how short. I want to hear from you.
