It’s Monday here on Rolling Meadows Ranch. It’s our Friday, meaning Danny is off til Wednesday. It was a busy weekend at Lake Kissimmee State Park. Danny had late field. Not so bad this time of year since we close earlier than we did in the summertime. Last we we closed at 7 PM. In the summertime we are open until 8:30. Last night, due to the time change, we closed at 6 PM.
No one at the park was ready to go home, except for STAFF. They wanted everyone to leave so they could go home.
I have to admit, the ONLY thing I like about SUMMER here in Florida, is when when the park is opened later. I hate it that Danny has to stay later but, I love my evening at home. I don’t function as well in the mornings or early afternoons. I thrive in the evening and late at night. Brain Fog hinders the rest of the day. I function but only because I have to.
Mondays have never really bothered me. As a former teacher, I enjoyed going back to work after the weekend. There were stories to share and new ones to make. Now, living and working at the park, Mondays are just another day.
I do better in the mornings when I get up and get dressed right away. It puts me in a “get things done mood, whereas, if I stay in my night shirts, Ihave a “nothing really needs to get done today, mindset.
Today is one of those days that I could stay in my jammies all day or most of it. Unless Danny decides to mow the lawn today, we won’t be doing anything. He slept in today. Really slept in. He is still wearing his shorts and t-shirt he slept in. He puts them on after he gets home from work most days. Wears them when he is off.
Occasionally, I will do the same when we are off. Most of the time though, I just feel better when I get dressed.
I was thinking of what my “I am thankful” would be about today. Well, I am thankful for quiet mornings when we don’t have to do anything. When Danny is off. When the radio is quiet. Or at least as quiet as it can be.
Everyone leaves us alone here at the Cracker House. No one pulls in. Few people ever drive by unless they are working here on the ranch. At the moment, water management and the state don’t have a project going on here. No large trucks driving in and out.
Only staff from the park working on exotic removal here. Our cattle leasee may be in or out as well.
I wish the Swamp Truck would be open on Mondays and Tuesday. It would be wonderful to pick up a Reuben sandwich. And some French Fries. Probably a good thing since neither one of those are healthy or Keto.
Still wishing for cooler days. Cooler days mean a day not in the mid to upper 80’s.
Last week it reached 89 degrees one day.
I don’t care what anyone says. That is just too hot.
Even for Florida in the fall.
Where is fall anyway?
What are you doing today in your Neck Of The Woods?
Have a wonderful rest of the day. Enjoy your week.
