Bloggy Holidays! — Michelle Lesley
From Sarah : If You Are interested in Advent, there is an Advent study coming soon.
It started out as an uneventful day, sightseeing with friends in Sarasota, Florida. On an impulse, we turned a corner and found ourselves in front of the Marietta Museum of Art and Whimsy. Hmmm. Intriguing name. We were not on a tight schedule. Why not. Grace, Grace, and More Grace (in unexpected places) Soon we……

Podcast Episode 47: Simple Ideas for a Christ-Centered Thanksgiving
From Sarah: The following brief quote is from Marci’s about me section of her blog. This is one of my favorite blogs to read all year. Christian homemaking at it’s best.
“Hello Friends,
Grab a warm beverage and sit with me a moment.
You know there is more to being a homemaker than cooking, cleaning, and feeling you’re just surviving every day. You desire to see the purpose in what you’re doing, that you’re making a difference in the lives of your loved ones. You don’t want to get caught up in comparing yourself to others or grumbling about the work set before you. ”
From Sarah:
Please check out her wonderful and uplifting blog if you haven’t already. Now onto the holiday post.Another quote:
“I want you to be able to keep your family’s and your focus on Christ and not get caught up in all the things on your seemingly long to do list. Thanksgiving should be a time of feasting on the abundant grace of God.I’m sharing below my simple planning for one of my favorite family traditions to celebrate together along with some bits of help at the end to keep the focus of the meal on Christ and Who we are truly giving thanks to. My hope always is to spark ideas in ways you can make much of Christ during your time together.

Get A Pen And Write This Down By Unveiled Wife
From Sarah : This is a short post but it says a lot. I am a huge fan of writing things down in a notebook or journal. It’s therapeutic. Peaceful.“Typing words is just as amazing. Yet, there is something special about the raw, tangible feeling of a pen and paper.
Writing helps us to slow down in our thought process because writing takes time. Each letter, each sentence, created and formed inside of us, impressed and established by us. As we slow down to consider how to craft what it is we want to express, we have room to think all the more. We have time to contemplate and wrestle with understanding about whatever it is we are writing about. Sometimes we gain understanding of a situation, sometimes we see something from a different perspective, sometimes we realize something new about a person, or about ourselves that we never considered before.”

“A wife’s emotions are most certainly connected to her desire, or lack thereof, in wanting to be intimate with her husband, after all, God did not make us robots and we’re certainly not Stepford wives!
Our husbands may say some unkind words that can cause us to want to emotionally withdraw from the relationship, which means that having sex with him is the last thing we’d want to do.”
Should a Wife Submit to Her Husband in Everything? By Jolene Engle

“Biblical submission. I’m a big fan of it. But unfortunately, not all husbands and wives understand the meaning of it. More often than not, this Biblical command is taken out of context. Many men think their wives should ask ‘how high’ when they tell their woman to ‘jump’. Excuse me a moment while I scoff at that perspective!
Or a husband might believe that a wife should keep her mouth shut when she doesn’t agree with his viewpoint.
Well, here’s a new flash: biblical submission does not equate to being a silent partner in one’s marriage. It’s a marriage, not a dictatorship.”

I am going through THIS book again.
Going DEEPER Than the LAST time.
Introduction: Philippians: The Joy of Christian Living
While the book of Philippians is a small one, consisting of only 4 chapters, it’s a book that’s packed full of encouragement for today’s Christian walk.
Throughout the book Paul refers to the joy that is available to all Christians, and while the main theme of the book leans toward joy, it’s also about humility, peace, obedience, and contentment.
Paul urges the church to adhere to the gospel of Christ, and to be aware of false teachers. He also encourages them to rejoice and to live joyful lives.
The emphasis on joy and contentment makes the book of Philippians a favorite to many.
The study opens up with a focus on Paul, his conversion, his mission, his visit to the Philippian church in the book of Acts, and his suffering. By gaining a better understanding of the author and his relationship to the church, we have a deeper understanding of his letter to them.
You are loved by an almighty God,
