Every family has their own food culture. Favorite recipes and traditions passed down through generations, foods from an ethnic heritage, as well as lifestyle foods based on health, convenience, and economics all make up the circumference of foods a family regularly enjoys. Certain foods in each family are also traditional for certain holidays, and occasions.
“When the temperatures begin to dip, the leaves change colors and pumpkin spice abounds, you know Hallmark Channel’s seasonal programming to celebrate the fall, Halloween and Christmas can’t be far behind. We love the Hallmark Channel’s family-friendly programming that centers around love, community, seasonal gatherings, holiday traditions and everything cozy!
The south has always celebrated family and traditions, and to that end, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite Hallmark movies airing in the 2019 holiday season with a southern connection. Whether the lead actor has roots in the south or the movie is set in a southern city, we’re sharing the ten Hallmark Channel movies we’re watching this season to get us in the mood for pumpkin patches, trick or treating… and of course, Christmas.”

The art of the nacho goes like this… you need a base of chips. Freshly fried is preferred and I’m having a moment with flour tortillas from Old El Paso. EACH chip needs some melted cheese AND queso otherwise it’s pretty much naked just sitting there being sad. Once there is some cheese, in any form on top, you can stick it in the oven, melt everything and then top it with all the fixings! It’s very very very important to load it up – guacamole, pico, carne asada, the works… it needs to be a party on every chip.
An Unforgettable Farm-to-Table Thanksgiving Menu from Stone Barns
When the farmers at Stone Barns in New York gathered for a potluck Thanksgiving dinner, they celebrated the livestock and the produce they had nurtured with an incredible locavore menu.
CORNBREAD, BACON, LEEK, AND PECAN STUFFING
Bacon (from the Stone Barns herd of Berkshire pigs-another heritage breed, which roots for acorns in the farm’s wooded hills) adds smoky depth to cornbread stuffing. Pecans lend a satisfying, buttery crunch
This stuffing is brimming with traditional holiday flavors, including leeks, herbs, and pecans. We used our Honey Cornbread recipe but left off the honey topping. Store-bought cornbread also works well.

Kids Cookie Challenge
By Clean Mama
From Sarah :
What a wonderful activity for the WHOLE FAMILY.
“If your kids are interested in cooking and baking and love the cooking competition shows, they’ll love this idea. The concept is simple – a simple baking competition that even little kids can participate in. You can make this as ‘top secret’ as you’d like to. Secret ballots, numbered cookie trays, mixing cookies secretly or together. Customize it for your kids!”

1. Fingerfood Dinner
With all the preparations that go into Christmas parties and outreach, this little tradition is pure bliss for me. My kids love choosing one fingerfood each to prepare, like a crackers and cheese tray, quartered sandwiches, chips and dip, brownies, or a fruit tray. They prepare it themselves with help from me as needed. It is fun, tasty… and easy on a busy momma!
