From Women Living Well:
“This week’s spiritual discipline is fasting and prayer.  I know this is a holiday week in the states.  So do not feel pressure to take this challenge this week. Instead, learn more about  the power of fasting and prayer. Then, look at your calendar and ask the Lord to help you pick a day in the coming weeks or months ahead, where you can fast and pray.  Planning makes all the difference! “

From Good Morning Girls On Facebook:
“Good Morning Girls! Welcome back to Week 4 Day 1. This week is Thanksgiving week!!! What is one thing you are thankful for today?

Today we are reading Matthew 6:16-18. I have posted it below. {After you complete your reading – click like.} If you have a few extra minutes please share your insights, applications or daily SOAKs. Here are today’s verses for you to read…We look forward to fellowshipping with you!

Matthew 6:16-18

16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

ESV”

From Sarah :
I admit, I am not going to do a FOOD FAST this week. I am cooking Thanksgiving Dinners for 12 families, 5 couples and a number of singles. Not sure exactly how many. The list keeps growing. Danny and I have been cooking for shut ins in our church and the local area for 12 years. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, except for 2 years at Thanksgiving and last year at Christmas when we weren’t home.
We both really enjoy it. The church provides all of the food and most of the cookware.
Which means I nibble all day Monday and Tuesday cooking for the church. Then Wednesday and Thursday for us.
We cook everything. Except the desserts. We try and fill as many requests as possible. We have turkey, ham, roasts and chicken for the main dishes. Different stuffings/dressings, potatoes, green bean and corn. Even Brussels sprouts this year. Cranberries and salads. Gravy. Can’t forget the gravy.
We do use store bought rolls.
I have lists of what each family/couple or single has requested. We really do DO OUR BEST.
There are obviously many church members also cooking in their homes and at the church for this Annual Event.
On Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, Danny and I head to our manager’s house for a huge PARK DINNER.
Yes, I bring lots of goodies.
We are having duck and OUR favorite side dishes Thanksgiving evening.
Danny works Thursday and Friday. We are off Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
We are going to PLANT CITY. More on THAT SOON.

I AM THANKFUL to be able to give a little to others this time of year.
I am THANKFUL to have the money for all of the foods we cherish. Never having to worry about going hungry.
WE have so much to be THANKFUL FOR.
I love to cook. I love to eat and believe everyone needs a special meal at least once or 2xs a year.
Wish we could do it more often.
I do Intermittent fasting most days. A few 24 -36 hours fasts every once in awhile.
I do FAST from SOCIAL MEDIA at times. Not nearly enough.
In place of FASTING this week, I am planning on taking more walks. Long walks. Really taking the time to pray as I walk. TALKING TO GOD. LISTENING.
My prayer time has been longer the last few months. I am journaling more. Bible Time And Prayer Requests. I have several journals for my Bible study. Gratitude . Prayer. Bible Study in general.
Have a wonderful THANKSGIVING week.
May God Bless You And Keep You,
Love And Hugs
Sarah

Gratitude is an Attitude By Susan Hanniford Crowley — Nights of Passion

In the United States, we are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving. This means cooking a large turkey and additional side dishes: peas, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and more. This doesn’t include desserts like pie, all kinds of pies. Then you watch a football game, where many of the watchers fall asleep because they ate too […]

Thankful For The Brief Moment Of Sunshine Today By Sarah

Advertisements
It’s been dark and gloomy here in Our Neck Of The Woods lately. The brief moment of sunshine was greatly appreciated.

We were suppose to have RAIN the last few days. Badly needed RAIN.
It never came.
Instead, it’s been DREARY. DEPRESSING. DAMP. Still too hot for me.
The SUN came out today. Blinding the computer screen.
Or at least I think it did.
It was gone as quickly as it came.
I am Thankful It came.
Sometimes, it IS THE LITTLE THINGS, that matter the most.
Love And Hugs,
Sarah

One Simple Truth to Help Your Heart Feel Grateful

November 7, 2019 by betsydecruz
https://faithspillingover.com/2019/11/07/help-your-heart-feel-grateful/

How do you give thanks when you don’t feel grateful?

“You’ve experienced it too. Little things go wrong in your day and zap the gratitude right out of your heart. Or big things may go wrong in your life. Maybe you experienced loss or went through trial this year, and you’re just not feeling the gratitude this November.
All the beautiful Thanksgiving images on social media can make a woman feel downright guilty if she doesn’t feel grateful. That woman may or may not be me, but the other day I woke up feeling more grumpy than grateful. I let a mini-disaster steal my gratitude. The night before, I went to pick up my son from work at 10 pm but … [Read More…]

If you’re struggling during this Season of Thanks, how about returning to a simple truth?“

“Now it’s your turn: When life zaps the gratitude out of your heart, what helps you feel grateful again?

“Welcome to the 10th Annual Making Your Home a Haven Bible Study!  10 years ago, we began this series and never could I have imagined how much it would resonate with so many women around the world!

Our souls desperately need a deeper connection with God.

So many times we try to mask our struggles, pain, confusion or emptiness by keeping busy and distracted, eating food, going on vacations, seeking success or elevating certain relationships. While many of these are blessings from God, they are not good substitutes FOR God.

This Bible Study is going to help you slow down.

It is going to force you to pause every day and enter into the presence of our Almighty God through the 4 Spiritual Disciplines of gratitude, meditation, prayer and fasting.

God’s pace is much slower than this world’s pace.

We must slow down to catch up with God.

We must create calm moments in our day because it’s in the unhurried moments, that we can clearly see and hear the voice of God.”
The Above was written By Courtney : Women Living Well/ Good Morning Girls.

“What exactly does living a life of gratitude mean?
To live with gratitude means continuously counting your blessings. … As such, to live with gratitude means recognizing everything you have that is good. All these things are blessings that bring incredible joy and happiness to your life. Speaking of joy, to live with gratitude means to find joy in the smallest of things. “

Thanks Be To God : Making Your Home A Haven Series

Thanks Be To God!

Good Morning Girls!!! It’s Day 4 of Making Your Home a Haven! Light your candle and keep your gratitude list going. What is one thing you are thankful for today?

Today we are reading 2 Corinthians 9:6-15.

From Sarah:
I Am Thankful For:
Not arguing as much with Danny lately. This is huge. Before he was in the hospital in September and before he stopped drinking we were fighting all the time. Huge Arguments. I never knew what would set Danny off. No matter what I did or didn’t do, we’d end up arguing. Know matter what I said or didn’t say, we would argue about it. Much of the time , I wasn’t even sure what we were arguing about. He’s yell at me. I’d either cry. Usually walking away. Praying it would stop. I’d hear him continue his rants from where ever I was.
I would get into the car and drive through the park. Drive through Camp Mack and the surrounding areas. When I came back, he would act as if everything was ok. No “I’m Sorry’s.
Nothing.
It’s often way too quiet here. He stays in his computer room and I stay in the kitchen , where the laptop is right now.
So the only time we talk is when he comes in for a drink. Even then,we seldom talk.
I keep trying. He would rather do anything else. Always watching a documentary. Or texting.
What happened to both of us watching movies together?
But, at least we aren’t fighting and he’s not yelling.
He’s not drinking either.
I am thankful for all of it.

What are you thankful for today?
Love And Hugs,
Sarah
