Making My Home A Haven is important to me. Sharing homemaking skills. Recipes and food. Bible Studies. This is a treasure chest of goodies. So take a seat. Have a glass of tea and enjoy. You will learn all about who I am.
Today’s memory verse Today is the third day of Making Your Home A Haven Bible study. My gratitude and prayer list. There are so many verses to pick for my SOAK today.I particularly liked this verse, Psalm 37:3 Trust in the Lord , and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily […]
From Sarah : Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I pray that you are busy spending time with your family and friends and not online like I am. LOL. I used to go HELP out at the park every Thanksgiving. Being lazy this year. Danny has late field so we were able to sleep in a bit. I could have stayed in bed a lot longer. Woke up to a very cloudy and gloomy day.
The park radio has been blaring all morning . We had a huge mixup in our DAY USE AREA. Double booked at the large pavilion. It is the ONLY pavilion with electricity. The only one really big enough for a large group. The staff is making adjustments. Thank heavens for generators and extension cords. Also thankful that one of the groups has been working with staff and making due with a smaller site. One of the groups has 50 people. Give or take a few. The other has 30?
I have three candles lit. My diffusers are also going strong.
Can’t help wishing for PAST THANKSGIVINGS. Memories Flood in this time of year.
From Sarah : This will be short. It’s almost 3:30 and Danny will be off shortly. As in any time. I was gone most of the days. I had something I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO DO (Nothing to do with Thanksgiving or the holidays). I ended up GETTING A LOT DONE. I AM THANKFUL that I was able to get something notarized and sent off with too much of a problem. (My bank was the only hitch. They don’t do certain property transfers. I was TOLD to go to UPS.) I AM THANKFUL that the roads weren’t nearly as crowded as I thought they would be. Everyone was in a GREAT MOOD. I AM THANKFUL that I was feeling good. That the weather was good for Florida. I got some things done that I have put off doing for a long, long time. It was just a good day. So no time today on the computer. That probably did me some good. I AM THANKFUL for the HUG I GOT . Happy THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!! Danny works tomorrow. I plan to volunteer or just hang out with him. We have our ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DINNER at the park. I need to cook tonight. Everything turned out great for the church dinners we did for the shut ins and less fortunate. Danny and I did an awesome job on our end. So did everyone else. Enjoy family time. Love And Hugs, Sarah
From Sarah : This is another New-To-Me Blog that was part of the ROUNDUP on Courtney’s post from 2010. I am enjoying reading these. I may have read them when they were first posted but don’t remember them. I didn’t have a blog back then. From The Making Your Home A Haven Series By Women Living Well And Good Morning Girls This one is Carebear And Co. Still active and going strong in 2019. The following is from Carebear And CO.
” I was actually kind of formulating a post relating to this subject in my head-before I read Courtney’s post at Women Living Well . But it was one of those ideas that I was just playing with in my head as I went about my duties. It might never have made it to my blog if it weren’t for her challenge.
Courtney mentions two homes. Number 1 has a mom who is distant, distracted, crabby, discontent and doesn’t pray. The woman of the home in number 2 is engaged (connected), manages her time wisely, pleasant, content and prays. As much as I hate to admit it-even to myself-I see more of myself in the description of the first woman. “
From Sarah : I believe most of us may fall into the first category at least part of the time. Homemaking can be very rewarding and fulfilling. It can also be stressful and wanting “MORE IN LIFE.” While reading her post from November 10 OF THIS YEAR I realized that it tied into OUR MAKE YOUR HOME A HAVEN SERIES .
“Moving is EASY. I know that’s probably not a statement most people who have moved would agree with but bear with me. Moving is easy…compared to making where you’ve moved a real home. I’m not talking about a house. We are working on that but it’s mostly within our control. Furniture, your things put away and pictures on the walls. It’s a work in progress but it’s also a labor of love and just takes time. But we choose when and how. We aren’t dependent on anyone else. “ http://carebearandco.blogspot.com/
16 “And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:16-18)
“This week is not going to be easy. Fasting is the most difficult spiritual discipline of them all. Fasting is a servant that feeds our soul while we starve our body. Every time our mind signals “I want food”, it’s a signal to pray. Giving up food and coffee from sun down to sun down brings out our soul’s deepest struggles. The hope of a bag of chips or a gallon of ice cream to drown out our sorrows is stripped away, and we find ourselves raw before God’s throne.
Week 4 – Challenge
Seek out a place of solitude to pray. Get alone with God outside or in your home. Be still with God and fervently pray. If you are not able to fast from food because you are pregnant or have a medical condition, fast from something else like social media, music, your computer, or television. Use the extra quietness to pray.
Keep your candle burning, the music playing and remember that God is always listening and He loves you.“
Here is this week’s Bible Reading Plan
From Sarah : For some reason I found this post easily on my SMARTPHONE but couldn’t find it when I tried on my computer. It was weird. It also HAD NOT UPLOADED to my email Accounts either. It went beyond BLONDE MOMENTS, SENIOR MOMENTS, BRAIN FOG ??????????? When I sent the post to my email account by phone, I was able to get the link but still not open it.
I also discovered that I still have a BLOG (Same Name) under SarahKasch@wordpress.com I was able to share it there before I could here. It’s been a very strange hour. Hopefully, I will discover what happened and not feel like a total “CRAZY PERSON” ANYWAY: Have a great week. Don’t worry about getting much done here THIS WEEK……With THANKSGIVING WEEKEND AND ALL. Not sure why Courtney waited so long to start the challenge. It usually starts in OCTOBER. Happy Thanksgiving, Love And Hugs, Sarah
