Fling Open Your Doors and Let Others In!
So…keep lighting those candles….
Keep loving from the oven….
Listen for those
Reach out and gather in.Don’t just make loving your family your aim during this challenge. As a family, reach out and bring others into your circle of love! Brainstorm as a family a person—or perhaps even another family—whom you can make the object of your love and kindness this week.
Maybe it is a “necessary person”—someone who helps your family to get life done like the:
mail carriergrocery store clerk
dentist
garbage collector
first responder
or teacher.
Perhaps it is a family new to your church or neighborhood.
Do something as simple as thanking them verbally and offering a small gift, such as a gift card or other small token. Or, light that candle, fire up that oven (or order pizza—it’s all good!) and open your home for a little old-fashioned hospitality.
Stir up one another to love and good works—just like our verse instructs us to! Not so others will be wowed by your family’s generosity but so others will be pointed to Jesus.
It is a series I have been sharing on http://sarahsatticoftreasures.com

From Week 1 2016 : Women Living Well
The smells and flavors of Fall.
When I was a girl, people seemed more willing to stretch whatever food they had and welcome others to their table. I often heard people of my mother’s generation say how their parents—who lived through the Depression—simply used to throw another few cups of water in the soup to make it stretch further when company dropped by. But today, in a culture saturated with Pinterest images of perfection that showcase lovely tablescapes, stunning décor, and gourmet fare, we aren’t so willing to have others into our home to break bread or share a plate of nachos.

And all over Facebook.
It is also a series many have written about on there own or with Women Living Well.
This week we are focusing on the kitchen – the heart of the home. At the bottom of this post you will find this week’s challenge, some fun conversation starters for kids and Women Living Well’s Favorite Recipes! The kitchen is not just for cooking but for connecting. God created taste buds, the sense of smell, and the eye that is drawn to beautiful things – to please our senses. […]This post will be sharing multiple photos and quotes from the various articles.
When we hear a heart drop, we can brush it aside and go on our busy way. Or, we can respond with an act of kindness. It may be words of reassurance, a clever small gift, an act of service, or gift of your time. Making Your Home A Haven is not a new concept.
Women have been doing it for centuries.
Live In Gratitude: The Tidy Mom
This week, focus on the kitchen, the heart of the home.
Super simple. But oh, so important!
By that, I don’t mean that making gourmet dishes is key or that presenting them in a fancy-fied way is the goal—although if you are the gourmet and fancy-fied type, then go for it! The issue is to make the kitchen a warm, inviting place where people are fed and souls are nourished—however that looks in your home.
Gourmet and fancy? Sure. If that is how you roll.
Good ol’ meat and potatoes with a homemade pie for dessert? Fabulous!
Dine on organic veggie main dishes and fresh fruit to end it on a naturally sweet note? Awesome!
Or, does your schedule only allow for a menu tonight of a frozen pizza tossed into the oven and store-bought salad as a side? No problem!Women Living Well.
CREATE AN atmosphere of coziness in your home.
Make it your aim to create an inviting, welcoming spot for your family; a haven with an aroma and look that is pleasing to the eye.
From Women Loving Well :
Cook things with pleasant aromas like homemade bread, pies, and cookies. Don’t wait to have a reason to make something special – do it simply to show love to your family. Invite your kids and/or hubby to cook along side of you – make memories in the kitchen – test tasting, being creative, laughing and loving. Remember the importance of dinner time around the table as a family.
Live out the fruit of the Spirit this week by showinglove, goodness and faithfulness to your family.
