Making My Home A Haven is important to me. Sharing homemaking skills. Recipes and food. Bible Studies. This is a treasure chest of goodies. So take a seat. Have a glass of tea and enjoy. You will learn all about who I am.
“Shrimp and scallops are gently poached and soaked in a lemon, lime, orange juice bath. The citrus flavors are outstanding in this ceviche recipe.”
“What do we love about this recipe? The orange juice is a trick I learned at our favorite Mexican restaurant. I like that the small chunks of shrimp and scallops are poached for a couple of minutes before the citrus brine period. And of course serving it with tortilla chips.”
“We don’t wait for lunar new year to make dumplings around here – they’re one of W’s favourite foods, and long ago we started filling and pinching them together. It’s not as difficult as it looks, a great way to spend 20 minutes catching up with someone you love, and little fingers are particularly adept at manipulating the soft dough. In the end, it doesn’t matter how you seal them – fold them in half like a peroghy, twist it into a little topknot, pull up the corners and make a tent, add a couple pleats or don’t. As long as they’re sealed, they’ll cook up just fine and taste wonderful. (Kids will come up with tiny packages you’d never have thought of.)”
There’s those recipes that you have been eating since you were a child. For me this Cheeseball Dip is one of those recipes!
Whether it was celebrating New Years with my family, a birthday party, celebrating a milestone or those famous “just because” neighborhood gatherings my Mom would whip up this Cheeseball Dip. As an adult I often resort to this dip too because it’s quick, easy and contains just 3 ingredients.
Now I’m pretty sure you have already made this recipe for yourself, but, one of the things I am working on here at MHR is adding all of my simple, easy and basic recipes as apart of my Cookbook that I hope to launch later in the year. As I am working on creating the recipes for the Cookbook they’ll also be appearing on the site…it’s called “Killin’ two birds with one stone!”.
I pretty much always have Cream Cheese on hand. Did you know that you cream cheese is one of the foods that I have listed in my 21 Foods That You Can Freeze article? It’s true! You can freeze it and you would never tell that it had been frozen.
“If you are running behind like me and are looking for an easy holiday treat to make for neighbors, friends, and family, I have the perfect recipe for you-Peppermint Bark Chocolate Chex Mix. It’s super easy to make…and super easy to eat. I won’t tell you how many handfuls I’ve eaten. I won’t tell you because I lost count! Let’s just say A LOT!”
“These little guys fry up so well, with a light a crispy shell that crunches into a soft and slightly caramelized center. So good! I recommend serving these up with a simple buttermilk ranch dipping sauce, but ranch and fried things really go hand-in-hand. If you’re still on the hunt for the perfect super bowl appetizer to serve up, you should make these little guys. We’re sure they’ll be the hit of any party. Enjoy! xx, Jenny”

CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS IN THE CROCK POT
“I seriously can’t believe how easy this Chicken and Dumplings in the Crock Pot was to make. Now I could’ve saved some time by chopping all the veggies for this recipe and putting them in a storage bag in the freezer and dumped them in when I was ready to make this recipe, but, for video purposes I didn’t!
This Spicy Crock Pot Pulled Pork is a version of my Adobo Pulled Pork. The Crock Pot Pulled Pork is a little milder and a safer way to cook at home if you are in and out a lot or for those nights when you don’t like to clean up dinner!
“My name is Bobbi. I am the Mom of 2 great kids, and Nana to one of the most beautiful baby girls you will ever see. I also share my life with my boyfriend Kevin, and 2 furbabies, a Westhighland White Terrier named Angel, and a Boxer Mix named Rocky.
I am also a cancer survivor. That battle prompted me to look at food in a different way. I began a journey to change the way I ate. To add fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs, and ditch the highly processed foods.
My desire is to show my family, and yours, that cooking simple delicious food is easy. I want to bring you tried and true recipes, using real food, that you are comfortable making.
Navigating the food world right now can be pretty crazy right? I know, I have been there and holy diet craze Batman! It is nuts!! Paleo, raw, gluten free, low carb, low fat……to juice, or not to juice, that is the question. Or rather, one of what seems like an endless stream of questions when it comes to what you should be feeding your family. It is seriously enough to have me pulling my hair out, or sending me screaming into the arms of a tub of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream!
But I am not here to just share recipes, I am here to share a bit about me, my experiences, and my crazy family. I love to share stories that show you what it is like in my house when I plop a bowl of cauliflower rice down in front of them.”
“WOW! Can you believe the Super Bowl is just one week away? This month has just flown by!
We are huge football lovers here, so the Super Bowl is something we make a big deal out of every year. Of course this year we aren’t as excited as we have been for the past few years.
The last few years our Seahawks have been in that big game, so we had a full year of screaming cheering our team on.
Oh well, we can’t do it every year right? *pout*
But, what we can do, is host one mother of a Super Bowl party, and fix up tons of grub for everyone to nosh on!
So, with that thought in mind, I decided to grab some of the party food I could find, from some of my fabulous food blogger friends, and this is the list I wittled it down to for y’all. There is some seriously delicious nomage here folks! It is going to be hard for me to make choices on what to serve.
” I like this dip so much I can eat it straight out of the bowl with a spoon. Except that my children love it too so either I have to hide it or eat fast before it is licked clean. All that cheese masks any spinach flavor, but I can still pretend I’m eating my green vegetables.”
