Thursday, Day 10 / Staying Upbeat Under Trying Times/ Eating Right
We got some rain today and that help lift my spirits.
The photo of me was taken several years ago at the shop at Lake Kissimmee State Park. We were all taking a break. It was another 90 plus degree day. We hadn’t had a break in temperature nor any real rain in months.
It started pouring. Someone handed me an umbrella. I didn’t want it. I wanted to feel every bit of the rain.
Before I knew it Danny was singing and I was dancing in the rain.
Dancing In The Rain
I love to dance in the rain.
I got excited this morning when the RANGER STATION radio’d that they were bringing our conex over.
I blurted out “You mean, we are finally getting an enclosed building here”.
The radio was suddenly quiet.
Danny got on and I could tell by his voice he wasn’t happy.
” No! It’s not for us”.
“It’s for the bunkhouse”.
What more could I say?
ON THE AIR. OVER THE RADIO?
Suddenly my phone started beeping.
The Ranger Station apologizing.
2 Other staff texted and said they were sorry WE WEREN’T GETTING OURS. That it wasn’t fair.
I handled it very well.
I thanked everyone, except Danny. I was honest with him about how I felt.
AND THEN I JUST LET IT GO.
ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT IN A LONG LINE OF PROMISES MADE AND PROMISES BROKEN.
We are use to them…..
The Following is from the post I wrote before this one.
Rolling Meadows Ranch has needed 2 STORAGE SHEDS HERE FOR YEARS.
THEY NEEDED ONE FOR THE BUNKHOUSE AND THE WORKERS THERE.
WE NEED ONE AT THE HOUSE FOR WORK RELATED STUFF. Lawn mower. Tools. Oil, Generators. Gas. All of Danny’s work STUFF.
ALL of mine.
WE HAVE NEEDED A CLOSED IN SHED EVER SINCE WE FIRST MOVED TO ROLLING MEADOWS RANCH ALMOST 13 YEARS AGO.
It took us 6 YEARS to have them tear down the car port that was here way before we moved here. The car port that was here was dangerous. Pieces of it kept blowing off. It was an eye sore.
They did a good job when they put the new shed up.
They finally put it up about 7 years ago.
Only problem was, it was suppose to be closed in on the 2 sides. We were also suppose to get a medium size conex as well.
That never happened. The money allotted for it was spent elsewhere.
ALL STATE HOUSES ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE A GARAGE. Most have a garage and a closed in shed. WE HAVE NEITHER.
OK : GETTING PAST THE SHEDS
Danny asked off for 2 weeks ASAP. The schedule came out and it looks like Danny could take off 2 weeks without hurting the park too much. It would only be 6 days because he is already off the rest. All of those are when there are more than one person working that shift.
Granted, it doesn’t leave anyone IF someone gets sick but the managers.
Danny will be losing a lot of VACATION TIME again this years. More than any other because he hasn’t been able to take his allotted time off since Covid 19 started.
We are waiting to hear if it will be OK’d OR not.
We both feel that if OUR MANAGER’S can take a week off when they want to then we shouldn’t be penalized when we want time off.
Danny has been working overtime a lot since March and April. On call a lot and he doesn’t get paid for that time. It was OK for awhile but it has gotten OLD.
No PAY INCREASE IN YEARS.
I MEAN YEARS.
Thankful to be working.
Very thankful to have a state owned house to live it.
Danny and I have MORE THAN MADE UP FOR LIVING HERE. WE DID THAT BEFORE WE EVER MOVED IN.
That was 9 years ago THIS MONTH.
We are very fortunate in many ways. We KNOW THAT.
I am really trying to. I mentioned before that it’s really hard when you sense of smell is virtually gone and you can’t taste much either.
